Global Leadership Training
Nairobi, Kenya, was a tremendous success. With leaders from 10 nations in Africa and over 85 in attendance. God fulfilled His promise to us in ministering to the needs of these leaders as we equip them to return to minister to the needs of their nations. Rev Doug Wever did a tremendous job leading LTI. |
|
Having Wafuka Kapolesa from Swaziland brought a unique experience and African perspective to the training. Chris Hodges and Dave Oliver had some fresh insights from their varied experiences. As one attendee told Doug, "I have never seen something like this before." This makes ministry equipping an extraordinary gift and extraordinarily vital for Africa. Doug Wever has a vision to develop culturally authentic ministry processes on the continent of Africa to fully equip leaders and staff.
We also had some applied training as a street meeting with Pastor Nathan Mukhwana in Korogocho Slum. CLICK FOR PHOTO ALBUM |
There were some amazing spiritual breakthroughs in the lives of the visitors. After Cathy ministered on "Forgiveness" we learned that it was the anniversary of Felix's father being murdered by the Tutsis 8 years ago. He wrote to Cathy,
"I want to forgive, but I hate those Tutsis, they murdered my father!"
Between April and June 1994, an estimated 800,000 Rwandans were killed in the space of 100 days.
Most of the dead were Tutsis and most of those who perpetrated the violence were Hutus. When Doug gave Felix his diploma, hefell to his knees and as we prayed God did a miracle of restoration in his heart. He has a heart to launch Teen Challenge ministry in Rwanda. |

Here in Africa, our hearts cried out as we received the news that David and Gwen Wilkerson were involved in a car accident and our dear Brother Dave did not survive the accident. We are comforted that he has gone to be with his Lord. Sister Gwen did survive and was airlifted for emergency care in critical condition to the hospital and needs our prayers. We learned today her condition has been upgraded from critical to serious with fractured ribs and a broken hip.
Let us lift our voices in prayer around the world for Gwen, and the entire Wilkerson family. I have spoken with Bro.Don and committed our love and prayer from the Teen Challenge family around the world in this sudden loss. |
2008 : Bro Dave MINISTERING AT THE 50th ANNIVERSARYOF TEEN CHALLENGE
|
While in our emotions we grieve, our hearts rejoice for the Man of God has passed into his eternal reward. May "the God of all comfort" be with the entire Wilkerson family and Teen Challenge clan worldwide as we reflect on the eternal legacy of this mighty man of God.
John 12:24“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
As this anointed seed has fallen to the ground, we know that here in Africa a whole new generation of Teen Challenge leaders are rising up! They are prepared to take the mantle to reach the world for Jesus. May our lives and ministry honor his passing as we carry his passion for
souls to addicts around the world. Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His godly ones. Psalm

Just hours before his fatal auto accident, Brother David Wilkerson posted a devotional on his site . WHEN ALL MEANS FAIL
http://www.worldchallenge.org/en/view/devotions |
|
There is nothing I could add to what Brother Dave shared so I will defer to the words and message of his April 27 devotional, click the link above for the complete text of the message |
Brother Wilkerson shared . . . To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights—and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.”
Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love. When all means fail—his love prevails. Hold fast to your faith. Stand fast in his Word. There is no other hope in this world.
