I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the hundreds of birthday greetings that I received on January 7. I started with good intentions of thanking each individually, but it was too enormous. Though I was not able to write to each of you personally, I did go through all of the greetings and prayed for every person. We are praying that God will bless you with the best year of your life.

God has done such a miracle in my life. Jesus Christ transformed the life of an out-of-control, rebellious teen and He gave me a chance. My life was a train wreck when God saved me! The picture below was me 40 years ago, after robbing a store. I was lost and hopeless but because of Jesus, instead of getting 5-7 years prison for grand larceny, I received life from God..

Bern Birthday 2011
Bern 1970 When I think of all of the many blessings in my life, I am truly overwhelmed by how God reached out to me when I could not reach him. When I could not cope, trapped by alcohol --a loner and a loser, He said, "I can change you!" He give me a beautiful wife and 4 wonderful children. When I see their heart for the Lord and ministry, their wives/ husband, and beautiful grandchildren... I think, what a demonstration of God's grace!
Not only that, but I have great friends and ministry partners like you!
Only the power of Jesus Christ could have transformed me from a worthless loser, to Global Evangelism Coordinator for a dynamic ministry like Teen Challenge.
That is my testimony. He did it for me, He can do it for you and those you love!

Awakening: 21 Days of Prayer,
Fasting & Personal Devotion
SPOTLIGHT: CAMBODIA TEEN CHALLENGE
Cambodia is still recovering from one of the most violent and horrific civil wars of the twentieth century. It's a nation that remains psychologically war-torn. Even though the Khmer Rouge were ousted from their vicious reign of terror, Cambodia is still deeply scarred by their tyranny decades after the combat has ended.
glue sniffer
In Phnom Penh, glue-sniffers are out in the open. They roam the streets aimlessly in Cambodia's capital city. Nobody takes notice. Citizens turn a blind-eye, not only to the needy victims of addiction, but to the greedy vendors who profit from their torment and this debilitating and eventually fatal, toxic habit.`
Noun Sophanith
My father and mother died when I was young. Life without parents was just like a car without a steering wheel. I lived on the streets. I survived by scavenging rubbish, shining shoes, and doing any other job that could get me something to eat. I met a lot of friends out there and found out that sniffing glue was cheaper than food and it took the hunger pains away. I had no idea of the damage the it was doing to my body and mind, I thought there was no hope...

Exact figures for drug prevalence in Cambodia differ greatly among UN agencies and NGO's, but official UNODC estimate that over 1/2 million suffering from drug addiction.

LONG SITHA
I left school at 7th grade. I ran with gangs and was trapped by the Phnom Penh night-life,We used all different kinds of drug including ice meth and heroin injection. I became a drug dealer, I robbed, stole and ran from the police. My family wept for me thinking there was no end for the hell their son was in.
Long Sitha
My sister went to church and she heard about Cambodia Teen Challenge . . .Long's testimony in his own words
Teen Challenge Cambodia is located in Samrong District, Takeo province. The Center provides residential care for street glue kids & young adults with life controlling problems with drugs and alcohol. Teen Challenge of Cambodia offers a one‐year residential program designed to equip them for drug‐free lives through the power of Jesus Christ. Under the leadership of Koy Chhim, Teen Challenge Cambodia provided care for over 50 students in 2010. Along with Asia Pacific Director, James Lowans I will visit Phnom Phen and the Teen Challenge Center in February.

PARTNER

PRAYER

FOCUS FOR

JANUARY

1) Let us pray that 2011 will be a year of anointed ministry in which we model the love and power of Jesus in these last days. God is calling us more to be a blessing than to be blessed, more to Love, than to be loved, more to minister to others rather than be ministered to.
2) Please pray for the 6-year old daughter of Jonathan and SungJoo Aird, Teen Challenge Directors in Seoul, South Korea.  Amethyst has a serious case of scoliosis.  Jonathan has founded Teen Challenge in South Korea. The surgery will take place when the money becomes available. It costs over $10,00. They have appealed to the specialist at the hospital knows their situation and he is going to present our case to some top people who support those who are unable to pay for the surgery. Pray for healing and for favor..
Praise report
John & Carol Kenzy Thanks for listing John's prayer need.  On January 7 (one month to the day of John's heart attack), he said he feels like himself again -- sustained energy and renewal of strength.  We do thank the Lord for His care!   John will have a defibrillator implanted on January 27
SIBERIA-Thank you for praying for us.  On Russian Christmas, January 7, we had three services, and 17 people came forward at an altar call to pray for salvation.  Many others came forward to renew their commitment to serve Christ with all their hearts.  Praise God! Also that day the youth from our church visited a Children's Home, and over 100 orphans prayed to receive Christ as their Savior.God bless you always,
Ilya and Janet We have been receiving prayer requests from individuals and ministries from all over the world.

5) Please continue to pray for healing and perseverance our dear friend Stan Noll. His cancer surgery is January 26, 2011 at Hershey Medical Center. The cancer is located between his left eye and left ear.
6) Pray for Brandon Hayslip. Bonnie and Roger Wilkerson Hayslip's 29 year old son who is fighting cancer. He's quite ill from the chemotherapy treatments and Bonnie has been calling for prayer around the world for him. Pray also for his wife Christina who must endure the unthinkable as a very young bride -- as she watches her new husband suffer with cancer. I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through.
7) Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 86 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 43 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT. We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet the need.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
