One thing is clear. More than percentage points, talking points, and partisan politics separate us. It is essential in this hour, amidst all of the confusion, promotion, distortions and promises, that we hear the voice of God. The solution is not political, it is spiritual. There is no scriptural command to fret, worry or despair regarding government.

Through the ages, God's people are called to pray for their leaders. Godly or ungodly government, even in the face of an occupying army, we are called to pray.
First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good & acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1Tim 2:1-4
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Rom 13:1
Even as citizens of another Kingdom, we are called to honor God as “citizens” whether in Rome, Babylon. the USA or around the world.
One man told me, “I cannot pray for this president. This is not my government. In that case, pray anyway. No matter how strongly you feel, do not forget the scriptural injunction. If you cannot pray for Washington as your leaders, in the worst case, remember Luke six where it says:,
Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Luke_6:28 .
We do thank God for His many blessings. It is good to thank God for what He has done. But thanking God for what he has already done is a product only of reason and our eyes. Real thanksgiving is thanking God for what He is going to do to fulfill His promise. Thanksgiving is not optional, it is foundational. We are not truly thankful until, with joyful hope, we thank Him for what He is yet to do!
At this “Thanksgiving” season, no matter what the political pundits in Washington or any earthly institution decide. Whether they honor Thanksgiving as instituted by George Washington, who authorized the first Thanksgiving Day in 1789, or Abraham Lincoln who reaffirmed that call to prayer and thanksgiving in 1863 … or if the highest halls of power pander to false gods and religions preferring to honor Allah as they forsake our Christian heritage ... I will Praise the Lord. God is still in control. He is LORD!
That is real Thanksgiving
