GTC STRATEGIC PLANNING 2008

SORRY that this update is delayed. Last week my mom was hospitalized for surgery on her gall bladder. They removed several stones, the largest over an inch.
When I returned from Georgia, I went directly to Gloucester to share responsibilities as care-giver with Cathy and my big sister, Debbie.

These are truly exciting times at Global Teen Challenge. On behalf of Dr. Nance and the entire Global Teen Challenge team I want to say "Thank you," for all of you that have been fasting and praying for us.

Bro Don WIlkerson laid a great foundation, for GTC. Now, under the direction of new Global TC President/CEO, Jerry Nance, leaders from around the world gathered to seek the Lord, strategize, organize and mobilize for the future. Thirty key leaders representing nations and Teen Challenge Centers on five continents joined for prayer and vision casting at the Global Teen Challenge Strategic Planning Summit in Columbus, Georgia.

Teen Challenge celebrates 50 years of miracles in 2008. It is essential at this 50th anniversary that we identify an ongoing, cutting edge, culturally relevant strategy to facilitate the delivery of Christ-centered care to centers world-wide as we harness existing technology. The team examined needs, mission, core values, and vision to propel Teen Challenge into the next 50 years. This strategic plan not only addressed the current environment but set forth guidelines to protect the faith-based legacy of miracles that is synonymous with The Cross and the Switchblade and the Teen Challenge Ministry.

PRAY FOR KENYA

Please continue to pray for the Martins and staff of Kenya Teen Challenge. Ethnic violence has not slowed and they are ministering at extreme risk. They still plan to start intake in a few weeks.

A key component of the new strategic plan identifies global regions with new GTC area directors to streamline communication and enhance regional planning. I will be serving with Mike Zello for Africa and as needed by other regional directors. I will also be in Pakistan for their 10th Anniversary in April.

It was amazing to see men from such diverse cultural settings and nations capture the single unified vision that God has for Teen Challenge around the world. DIfferent countries, different backgrounds, different continents, different nations, but one in heart, one in mission and one in the Spirit of Christ. We took the time to identify the scope and current Teen Challenge operations around the world, We did this not to say, "Look what we have done," but ... "Look what The LORD has done! "
Teen Challenge has had a center, currently operates a center or is preparing to launch Centers in over 108 Nations. We have formal invitations to start or return to 23 countries in hand right now. While financial resources will be part of planting centers in the countries, it always starts with one person with a vision

Pray the Lord of the harvest That he send workers. The world is crying our for answers that only Jesus can give! Perhaps your church or Teen Challenge Center would like to adopt one of these nations in prayer.

MATTHEW 9:36-38 Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then He said* to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38“Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”

1) Please pray for Cathy and I as we coordinate our 2008 schedule with Dr. Nance and Africa coordinator, Mike Zello. We have numerous invitations on hand. Trips to Africa and Pakistan are currently scheduled subject to approval for international air travel by my pulmonary specialist in February.

2) Pray for my mom as she recovers from gall bladder surgery. Her history of staph and MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus bacteria superbug) put her at risk for infection as she continues her recovery.

3) Pray for workers for the Harvest ... we currently have invitations to start or return to 27 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need. We offer the SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet that need.

4) Pray for the preparations for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Teen Challenge with David and Don Wilkerson, Nicky Cruz and Teen Challenge Centers from around the world. If you live in New York City, would you or your church be willing host 2 to 4 international guests from a Teen Challenge Center from Africa, India, Kazakhstan or somewhere around the WORLD?
