GTC STARMAN
~ ~ RETURN to Tanzania ~ ~

After a few weeks home we are packed, loaded, and headed for the airport. We are wheels up for one of our most exciting missions of the year. Beginning in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, we will move on to Dodoma, from there back to Dar es Salaam and then, on to Istanbul, Turkey on Thanksgiving day to begin preparations for the second annual Eurasia conference, hosted by Kevin Tyler and Eurasia Global Teen Challenge director Ilya Bantseev. We will get home in December.

The centerpiece of this mission will be a dynamic integrated outreach to the capital of Tanzania, Dodoma. It will be an incredibly busy week full of opportunities.

1) TC Pastors Awareness -Doug Wever and a team along with Catyh and I will host a TC Pastors Awareness conference at Central Bible College.

2) MKUTANO MKUBWA WA NJILI: DAWA IMEPATIKANA!” Carrying the good news to the street, the Tanzania Assemblies of God have coordinated a interfaith open air citywide outreach. Initially scheduled for the Barafu Grounds, we may be transitioning to a new venue because of security concerns following the recent Tanzania election and the opening session of the newly formed government. The theme for the open-air meeting is “MKUTANO MKUBWA WA NJILI .  .  . DAWA IMEPATIKANA!”  It is a real attention getter  (Dawa = the medicine, the drug, the solution, or the remedy; Imepatikana = is available) I don’t have a list of the local choirs coming, but there are 22 TAG committee members pulling all of this together with 4 practice days prior to the 5-day meeting.

3) MY DESTINY An all night campus outreach to the University of Tacoma, largest secular campus in Africa with over 35,000 students.

PASTOR'S CONFERENCE

As we've been ministering in Tanzania from the TAG 70 that a bursary through the two SOS mission outreaches we are seeing pastors doing wonderful work with the addicted across the nation.

Dr Wever's vision is to provide tools and vision to reach the lost. TAG General Superintendent Barnabas Mtokambaie is a tremendous visionary

He has appointed wonderful man, Pastor Valentine Mbuke from Mwanza to head up and facilitate the work of Teen challenge in Tanzania. He has been working with 24 addicts. When I met with him in July and shared some of our resources he began to weep as he said these are the tools we have needed to reach these men. Dr Wever will lead a team along iwth Cathy and I to train over 200 Pastors to reach addicts.
Even as they were doing reconnaissance and scouting locations for the citywide outreach missionary Jeff Garrett, who is been a tremendous partner for Teen Challenge,he and the local pastor's encountered addicts on the street The need is great ! They shared, prayed, and sa God got move powerfully.
UNIVERSITY OF DODOMA
With a population of over a half million, Dodoma presents a unique opportunity to engage Tanzania's intellectual and spiritual elite as well as street people with the good news.
Following the city-wide outreach, with a vision to reach addicts and those hungry for God.  We will also be doing an all night meeting on the largest college  campus in Afrrica, the Universtiy of  Dodoma, a campus of over 35,000 students the largest in Africa. MIssionary Garret and I will be keynote speakpers as dozens of CHoirs will share from 8:99 Friday Nght until 7: AM
The theme for the Campus Night is "My Destiny."  The theme song is "My Everything" by Richard Smallwood.  The Campus Night Mass Choir will sing the theme song. Pray for us as countrymen and I engage the students with music, rap, and testimonies of KenyaTC ... along with dozens of incredible choirs we are praying that God will release tremendous anointing call these young people to the harvest..
The look on his face said it all...

~ ~ REJOICING ~ ~

Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice!
Philippians 4:4

Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10

HE ASKED THE LITTLE BOY, “ WHY ARE YOU STARING AT THE MEMORIAL PLAQUE”

With Veterans Day celebrations, many churches across USA had special services last week, We honored the sacrifice of veterans and servicemen who give sacrificially for our nation.

Pastor saw Alex standing in the foyer of the church staring at the large plaque. It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of the plaque. Seven-year-old Alex had been staring at the plaque for some time when pastor walked up. Standing beside him. He said quietly, “Good morning, Alex.”

“Good morning Pastor” he replied. Still focused on the plaque “Pastor, what is this?”

"Well son, it’s a memorial to all of the young men and women who died in the service.”

Soberly they stood there, lost in reflection quietly looking at the names. Finally, little Alex’s tiny voice broke the silence… Barely audible and trembling with fear he asked, “

"Which service, the 8:30 or the 10:45?”

OK, So you invest your life in serving others. Even though life started out badly. For years you have been doing all that you can to do the right thing. Then, suddenly, having done nothing wrong you offend the rich people of the city. “The man” turns on you, spreads lies, and uses his wealth to hire people testify falsely against you. Now, to add insult to injury, you find yourself innocent in a prison cell.  What does a brother have to do to get a fair trial in this city?

At that point I might begin to question the fairness of life. If it were me, I would be crying out to God, “Hurry up and get me out of this.”  The circumstances are exactly where the apostle Paul found himself, languishing in prison, having committed no crime except shining the light on the darkness of the fallen city but there was no quit in him, There was no pity in him, no time to whine about whether life was fair. That is the context of his life as he penned those powerful words.

“Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say it rejoice.”

The reason he could rejoice with his focus on God's purpose for his life. Philippians 1:12-15 is very revealing to establish the foundation upon which he could build his life.

"Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else, and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear."

The apostle Paul is the classic example of discovering and experiencing joy in difficult circumstances. “Joy” and “rejoicing” are mentioned 12 times in his short letter to the Philippians—written while he was in Rome with an uncertain future ahead of him.

How can we have joy in difficult circumstances?

Ronnie Northan suggest reasons to rejoice.

1) God's care. Moses told the 2nd generation of Israelites who had survived 38 years of wilderness wanderings, “You shall rejoice in all the good things the LORD your God has given to you and your household” (Deuteronomy 26:11) We can rejoice because of God’s care for us in difficult times.

2) Since we are citizens of heaven that means that we are in Christ in the heavenlies. That is, we can rejoice in difficult situations because of our citizenship in heaven where we are fully protected.

As a believer, a disciple, as a Christian today, don't focus on what happens to you but what God wants to do in you. Through tis He will demonstrate what he can accomplish through you.

God cares for you. It is He who and made you a citizen of heaven. He will continue to care for you and sustain you with the resources of heaven itself. Both truths make good reasons for having joy in the Lord today.

Refuge of Hope
We were blessed to join Pastor Reuben Tavarez, Rehrerburg Teen Challenge Choir alumus (from the 80s) and senior Pastor, Mariano Rivera at Refuge of Church in
New Rochelle NY. While Matiano Rivera gained notoriety for "saves" as the Hall of Fame closer for the New York Yankees, his most important saves are taking place in partnership with his lovey wife and lead Pastor Clara at Refuge as they carry the good news to their community. It was such a delight to see Hector (Ruben) and his incredible family. I'm so blessed to see our "sons in the faith" as they continue to carry the good news of the gospel so many decades after graduating Teen Challenge.
I was truly blessed by Reuben wife and children. We are always blessed to see our Choir guys, 30 years later... still going ofter God. Going after souls !

"MATT 18: 18-19
Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. 19"Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven

Let us agree together!

1) PARIS:

Please pray for Paris. The attacks there this weekend were timed to provide a maximum of terror and carnage. Senseless death of innocent people is a reminder that we live in a dangerous world. Even as many of our team will fly through Paris on the way to Tanzania, we know that this is the hour for believers to step up and take the good news of the gospel into the teeth storm. At the same time it speaks to the need for wisdom and discernment as leaders weigh the humanitarian crisis of those fleeing war-torn Middle East nations with the danger that this migration may also be calculated invasion of extremists with an agenda to rebuild the caliphate in Europe.

2) DODOMA, Tanzania

Please pray for the final logistics of our Tanzania Outreach much of the team is in Africa already, we we are on the way today. -Please pray for team members will be joining me.

It will be truly exciting to have Ken Stemler from the Brooklyn school of Ministry as well as Rapper & Kenya Teen challenge graduate Countrymen as well as Lost and Found, a team of Kenya teen challenge graduates join us. The team from Kenya Teen Challenge will be led by Joseph to Johnny we are excited to work and see the teen challenge family come together to reach this nation.

Jeff Garrett writes:

The dates have been confirmed for the evangelistic outreach at UDOM (University of Dodoma) November 20-22.  It is going to be a powerful time of ministry to this very dark campus, and I am grateful that you will be our special guest evangelist and worship leader.

Dr. Nguyaine and Pastor Jonas Mkoba will coordinate a city-wide open-air meeting in Dodoma November 18-22. Pastor Mkoba is the TAG National Education Director and the president of Central Bible College here in Dodoma. He has also planted nine TAG churches from CBC with plans to plant two more this year.  He is an evangelist, teacher, and pastor as well as a very strong administrator.

3) Dodoma Tanzania,

As we head to Tanzania, we thank all of you who have been been in prayer for their elections … facing very controversial issues this is a strategic time for the nation. Turnout was high in Tanzania's most competitive general election in history.

The new opposition coalition has ended the governing party's 54-year grip on power. Pray with us for a peaceful transition of power and open doors for the Gospel Despite the fact that they have band all large gatherings in the center of the city (including Muslim prayers) we know God has the right location for the city wide open air.. The ink on on the little finger of her left hand is the is the mark given by election officials that proves that she has voted.

4) GTC AFRICA ALUMNI Association

Please pray for Joseph and the team moving forward with the first all Africa Alumni Association. It is extremely exciting that he is taken the initiative to help put together this Lost and Found team from KenyaTC and coordinate logistics for housing vehicles and music for Job and John Martin the directors.

5) REFUGEE CRISIS:

Please join us in prayer for the refugees pouring into Europe. In the largest exodus of displaced people since World War II, numbers have exceeded 350,000 and shows no signs of abating. These refugees are fleeing war and oppression in their home countries, primarily in the Middle East and Central Eurasia. Give leaders wisdom to discern whether fleeing families represent the practical realities so important to determine whether immigrants crossing the border are a humanitarian crisis or a stealth invasion of extremists. revealed Paris last night

  • Pray for missionaries and national churches as they seek to coordinate relief efforts across Europe. Pray that supplies from Convoy of Hope will be used most effectively in areas of greatest need.
  • Pray for government leaders as they grapple with how to respond to the crisis.
  • Pray that God will grant favor with governments to Missionaries who minister to refugees.
  • Pray that refugees will hear the gospel and accept Christ as Savior.

7) THE HARVEST

Let's pray for the global advance of the gospel. Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 106 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 32 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet the need.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.
