GTC STARMAN

In spite of xenophobic attacks and deaths that filled the headlines in South Africa, leaders from 12 nations joined us for the ALL AFRICA Sustainability Conference and the presence of God overflowed in Pretoria. Dr. Jacobus Nomdoe, executive director,of TC South Africa was a tremendous agent of reconciliation in the face of the crisis. The GTC Leadership Summit, directed by Rev. Doug Wever and hosted by Rev. Jacobus Nomdoe and Ricardo Heilbron was a tremendous season of refreshing, reconciliation, and ministry. We were blessed by the move of God.

FOR A BLESSING

This conference had the largest gathering of Teen Challenge women's ministry leaders in GTC partnership on the continent of Africa. Amazing women and powerful leaders will bring lasting results as they go into the harvest field in Africa.

As women from Ethiopia to South Africa and from Uganda to Kenya cried out for the needs of women and children, the men joined their voices to the chorus of intercession. Leaders from pioneering centers such as Ghana, Tanzania, and Ivory Coast to established centers such as Angola, Swaziland, and South Africa echoed their cry for freedom in Africa.

As Teen Challenge continues to exercise a stronger foothold in Africa we were excited about the upcoming West Africa leadership conference in May which will bring together church leaders from 12 nations with Teen Challenge leaders to put forward a strategy to engage the drug problem in West Africa with the good news of the gospel.

Come in with us to enjoy the excitement of the conference and the
presentation of 54 completion certificates, We provide four (4) links for your convenience. Choose HTML if you are viewing on iPhone or Flash for use on computer.

~ PHILADELPHIA PARK- Pretoria, South Africa ~
Funny, we traveled over 10,000 miles to Pretoria, South Africa for a street meeting in "Philadelphia Park." Even though I was not back in Pennsylvania, it was not unlike a park in the USA. The park, once ruled by gangs, drugs, and violence offered an open door to the gospel. As we testified and ministered, the same power of God moved mightily to heal and save as we ministered with TC in Pretoria.

You Are Not An Orphan

18 I will not leave you as orphans;
I will come to you. A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also, at that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

JOHN 14:18 NIV

TEARS GAVE WAY TO JOY
What a delight to share the unbridled joy of Salvation. Many young people danced at the altar in joy as others wept grateful tears that God had sent the team to the park. The question was repeated over and over--"We need you, when will you come back?"
Bern

You are not facing life all alone -- no matter how you feel. Jesus is with you. He promised to never forsake you. He is there for you, not just with you, IN YOU.

Our enemy loves to make us think we have no help, that God does not care, and we have no hope. But the devil is a liar. The great paradox of our Christian walk is that, in our hearts, hope and hurt abide next to one another. The enemy likes to turn his spotlight on our weakness, disappointments or failures, when God calls us to remember we are not alone.

Am I the only one that has ever cried out "But why does God allow things to look so bleak? Why doesn’t He help me sooner? I just wish God would show up so I didn’t have to go through all this. " God has called us to faith.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6

While problems do not “test our faith,” they do test our diligence. In so doing, they reveal the level of our faith. It is telling that God’s Word says that without faith it is impossible to please God. Without times of testing we would have no opportunity for our level of faith to be revealed. Without obstacles we would have nothing to overcome. Without resistance, muscle can never be built. Without hurdles we would never see how high we can leap with our hand safely clutched in Father’s hand.

Always remember that God is not just training up warriors, He is raising up sons. In that context, He is raising a family, preparing us for eternity with Him. It is a great error to judge everything by today’s "bottom line," when God’s plans are being worked out in light of eternity. What happens in you is far more important than what has happened (or even is happening) to you.

It is in the consciousness of His presence and of continuous communion that Jesus reveals to you, as you never knew before, that HE IS in the Father, and also in you. Many TC students meet the Lord seeing the humanity of Jesus; but the supremacy of Christ is released in the resurrection power of Jesus. God wants to take us far past that contact with his humanity, to be lifted up into communion with the Father. Because He is in the Father, He is able to be with and IN US.

We must trust our Father God, because only He really knows the "true bottom line." We can trust Him, because He is good, loving and worthy of our trust. Never forget that you are not alone, today make this your prayer:

Father, Thank you that I am not facing life all alone, as an orphan. You are my Father and You are taking good care of me. At Calvary, You gave your life completely to me. How can I do any less?
I trust You -- for time and eternity.

TRAINING TEAM

It was a blessing to have Chief operating officer of Global Teen Challenge, Kevin Tyler, join us was the All Africa Summit. While it is exciting to bring together teachers from around the world, an exciting aspect of this conference was that the bulk of the teaching was carried by Africans. . Rather than relying on American and other international teachers, we sought to empower indigenous leaders. We are seeing God raise up a strong core of leaders as he continues to strengthen the bonds of this tight-knit team.

It was a tremendous blessing to have Rev. Floyd and Mary Miles along with a missions team from San Antonio TC join us in Pretoria, South Africa. Floyd has been a tremendous blessing to GTC Africa and has partnered in Africa for over a decade.
In 2002, in the early days of TC Outreach on the continent of Africa from TC Western Cape, Swaziland, and Uganda, he helped to establish fledgling Teen Challenge ministries. In 2015, he returned with a staff team. It was wonderful to have him back in Africa. After the Leadership Summit he and his team headed to Zambia minister with Wafuka Kopelesa and the TC Zambia ministry. Check my facebook page for more videos and photos of the San Antonio team.

PARTNER

PRAYER

FOCUS

for

MAY

1) Pray for Nepal

Kathmandu, Nepal

An eathquake magnitude 7.8 Rocked Nepal and Inai on Staruday. More than 5,000 people are dead. over 9,200 injured and eight million affected across Nepal. One million children urgently in need of help.

The startling numbers do not begin to capture the impact of this devastating earthquake. As  serious as the damaged homes, destroyed temples, and smashed communities, the shattered lives of those that have survived truly need a touch of God’s love and our compassion. May the grace of God rise from the ruins of the shattered temples and devastated lives. The director of the teen challenge in Dang Nepal reports that their building was not damaged and their staff and students are well but every life in their community has been touched by this quake. Please join with us in praying for all of them

2) NIGERIA

We rejoice that God has brought Nigeria through their election and provided a new home for the David Omih and Teen Challenge in Jos.  A walled property in a better neighborhood it will provide an excellent environment for God to change the lives of men
As we reflect on  the first anniversary of the 200 girls captured by BOKO HARAM , pray that God’s hand will be upon their lives. As we hear of the release of 300 other girls, not related to that abduction, it gives us a picture of the needs for compassion and God’s love to rule. The 300 released will not be free until God has touched the deep wounds in their hearts of their captivity

3) WEST AFRICA

Please praise for the upcomingtTeen Challenge Awareness Summit in Accra Ghana as leaders of 12 West African nations come together to strategize opportunities to use Teem Challenge as a vehicle to bring the claims of the gospel to bear on the escalating drug problem in west Africa. with leaders traveling from such distances please pray for their safety as they travel in opportunities to minister as we come together. the general superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Ghana has contacted surrounding national leaders to convene this holy convocation.

4) Burkina FASO

Please join us in praying for the necessary immigration and visa documentation to clear the consulates in a timely fashion. As you can see from the schedule below we will have wonderful opportunities to minister there and your prayers will propel and empower us into the havrvet Because of your prayers we are there.

You will be blessed by the incredible mass choir, live band and ministry teams as we seek God's face for Tidewater and the nation

5) COMPUTER CRISIS

In light of the significant prayer request aAbove sometimes my minor crises almost seem too small to mention. I've suffered a catastrophic drive failure in my main laptop which is taken out my computer at a time when I desperately needed to travel to New York City California and on to Africa although we do regular backups there's always lost data especially when we are returning home from Africa like this. As we rebuild my computer, reinstall all of my software please pray I can get all of the programs back in running order and recover as much data as possible.

6) THE HARVEST

Let's pray for the global advance of the gospel. Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 106 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 32 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet the need.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.
