New Year is a time of promises and resolutions, especially as we launch into a new decade. But please, don't just resolve to "give up" something, resolve to "give back" something. We are a people who, even in the face of challenges, are supremely blessed. We have so much to give. I love my son, Bernie's resolution, "This year rather than trying to just "be BLESSED," I want to bless the Lord. In the same way, our prayer should not be just to "be blessed," but to "be a blessing." It is a wonderful thing to have God answer your prayer, it is more wonderful to be the answer to someone else's prayer. You have answered the prayers of tens of thousands of addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, victims of human trafficking and sexual slavery through your partnership 2009. We are so grateful for your support.

E - V O T I O N --- 2010 A NEW DECADE

The number 10 is significant in biblical numerology. Some of the teaching can be downright foolish, but some things are clear. Ten is a number of new beginnings. You end the single digits you start teens, teens to 20's etc. Ten signifies the perfection of Divine order, commencing not only an altogether new series of numbers, but unfolding God's plan.

• Noah was the 10th generation from Adam [Gen 5]
• Abraham was the 10th generation from Shem, son of Noah [Genesis 11:10-26] (the ancients counted every series with the first in the series as #1—there was no concept of 0 as a place value)
• 10 Commandments [Exodus 20:1-17;
• 10 clauses in the Lord’s Prayer [Matthew 6:9-13]
• 10 plagues on Egypt [Exodus 7:14-12:30]
• 10 virgins in Jesus’ parable [Matthew 25:1-13]
• 10 times John uses the words "I Am” in his Gospel

As I have prayed about this new decade, the Holy Spirit directed my heart to the parable of the 10 virgins. I believe the decade of 2010 will be a time of separation of the wise and foolish. In 2010, God is looking to see if His people are more interested in "the party" or the "preparation."

We are all moving toward the inevitable climax of the celebration of the Lamb. In the "Parable of the 10 Virgins," 5 had oil, burned brightly and were alert for the Lord's coming--5 others looked forward to the "Party" but did not prepare. God calls them foolish.
Five were busy getting ready, Five had no idea they were were not ready. Five prepared, five pretended.

I am asking God to search my heart to reveal if I am preparing or pretending. While there may be success in making a resolution (even the Apostle Paul says, "this one thing I do," in Philipians 2), the real victory in is in the daily choices that you make. With the Lord helping you, may 2010 be the best year of your life!

We had a wonderful time over the Holiday season as the whole family gathered in Frederick MD. We had the blessing of ministering together at Calvary A/G, Pete's church.

1) PRAY FOR GOD'S WISDOM AS WE CRAFT THE 2010 SCHEDULE WITH GTC LEADERSHIP. WE HAVE INVITATIONS FROM MAURITIUS, TANZANIA, PARAGUAY, INDIA, KAZAKHSTAN, SANTIAGO, D. R. AND CAPETOWN FOR THE LAUSANNE COUNCIL ON GLOBAL EVANGELISM.

2) Pray for ministry in New York City next week,

3) Please pray as we prepare for ministry at the Maximum Security Prison in Asuncion, Paraguay with Rodney Hart from Jan 14-20.

4) Pray for the Global Teen Challenge Board meeting and executive training Buenos Aires 20 to 24.

5) United States Plenary Sessions for the THIRD LAUSANNE CONFERENCE ON WORLD EVANGELISM at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Dallas

6) Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 86 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 43 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet the need.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
