It is a delight to be here in Trinidad & Tobago with Teen Challenge family. Despite the recent death of the Vashti, the wife of the executive director, Nyron Dinoo, and his daughter; their resolve to reach this Island for Jesus has not waned. It is wonderful to see the response of the TC family worldwide in this time of need! Jamaica TC sent St Claire, a graduate of the Bible School to serve in Trinidad until April 21st, and Winnipeg TC is sending a graduate and Emerging Leader who will serve in Trinidad from April 19 until July 16. (click for details)
Teen Challenge was introduced to Trinidad in 1997 by Rev. Dale Priczer, an American Missionary. Following his untimely death: Rev. Jesse Owens, Rev. Duane Henderson and Rev. Sam Mayeski took up the mantel to launch TC. Crack cocaine use is epidemic in Trinidad and Tobago and a cause of pressing social and health care concerns. |

Teen Challenge Trinidad began in 2 buildings in Cocorite with a capacity of 10 men. Their doors opened April 1st 2000. TCTT started with one student, two indigenous staff and an Executive Director.
Nyron Dinoo, the current Exec. Dir, was the first to live in that centre and see God's power to change lives that is still such a vital part of this vibrant ministry. |
 |
|
In 2002 the program relocated to Sangre Grande. The doors of the Sangre Grande Men's Center opened on 12 April, 2003 as leadership passed to the hands of Nyron Dinoo. He was joined by his wife as they married Vashti in 2004. |
 |
In the new building they had a Director, one staff and Steve Henry, from TC central Canada caring for 6 students.
In December 2003 they began the construction of staff quarters, increasing capacity to 8 induction with 4 training students, 2 interns, 1 extended student, 3 indigenous staff and the Director. |

|
Now, T.C.T.T. is a growing, vibrant, discipleship ministry using the proven regimen of Teen Challenge International under the guidance of the Holy Spirit in partnership with over 1,000 programs in 85 nations. This is not rehab ... this is RESURECTION! I am visiting to help revitalize their evangelism outreach and choir as well as evaluate sites for Rock the Block. Pray for our busy schedule and we will be rehearsing, ministering on the street, in schools, churches and in the community ... shooting video, building a new web site and training the choir. |
 |
In honor of Vashti's vision, Nyron has a dream of opening the women's Center she always wanted. There is only one female treatment program in all Trinidad. The CDARI study of crack users showed 1 female addict for 5 men... 90 % of the women surveyed sold sex compared with 13% of men ... 61% of the sample reported using a condom less than half the time. Fully 1/3 were HIV positive. We must reach them before it is too late! |
 |
A study of homeless crack users in Port of Spain by CDARI evaluating socio-demographic influences for cocaine dependence to the SATC (Substances Abuse Treatment Centre) revealed that 86% of the addicts are between the ages of 20 and 39 years and 45% had a positive family history of substance abuse. |

CASSANDRA DIDN'T GO HOME
... I first met her my first Sunday in Uruguay this trip. Her smile hid the cruel realities behind her being in our Teen Challenge program. Though only 22 years old, Cassandra had already experienced the dregs of the international sex-slave industry . . . click here to learn more about Casandra, her personal battle and God's faithfulness: writes Isaac Smythia

IT IS NOT TOO LATE JOIN US IN MAURITIUS
Join Darmen Elleya, Rhavy Nursimulu, the dedicated team preparing to launch of Teen Challenge Mauritius, and I for MAURITIUS, THE LIFE EXPERIENCE seven days of miracles.Even though the CIA fact sheet describes Mauritius as an Island paradise ... paradise is burning as the young generation is drawn into drugs, alcohol, sex and all sorts of bondage. Ranked number 2 in the world in heroin addiction by the United Nations UNDOC and cited with increasing human right violations for failure to provide treatment for those trapped by addiction, his Hindu nation is looking for answers. TC is offering the proven cure, real answers through Jesus Christ, |
|
You can join us for 7 days of miracles. The island of Mauritius is located 2,000 km off East Africa, southwest of the Indian Ocean. Ten times the size of Washington DC, it is home to 1.2 million people that form a mosaic of race, culture and religion. This French-speaking Hindu Island has a diverse, splintered, and militant religious population, (Hindu 48%, Roman Catholic 23.6%, Muslim 16.6%, other Christian 8.6%).
We need French or Creole speaking volunteers as well as musicians, rappers, prayer warriors and altar workers.

PARTNER
PRAYER
FOCUS
FOR
MARCH/
APRIL |
1) Please pray for the move of God in Trinidad and the entire Teen Challenge family during this time of tremendous pain at the death of his Vashti and the loss of their beautiful second daughter. Nyron and his daughter Sharona need the comfort that only God can give. Sharona was close to her mommy and was very excited about the new little sister that was coming home to live with them. Now she wonders and asks where mommy and the baby are. We cannot know their pain, but we can share their burdens in prayer.
2) Pray for the ministry in MAURITIUS- in May as we host the crusade and street Rallies in the six major drug areas and a climaxing in the nation's capitol. (see detail above). MAURITIUS is a fertile field and I believe God is going to shake that Island by HIS power and from there I see the wave rolling like a tsunami of love and grace to Seychelles and then Reunion Island. Hallelujah!
3) Pray for preparations for the August Jimmy Jack Crusade and Rock the Block Evangelistic Services in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Pray for arrangements with Dr Ron Kenoly to join the missionary team as we partner with Kenya Teen Challenge and the TAG to launch a new TC in Dar Es Salaam. We are close to making an announcement. We need to lock in the reservations IN WRITING for Kamukunji Grounds and Jangwani for the ministry times as well as locating sound systems capable of covering 50 to 75,000 people.
4) Continue to pray for Mike Zello. His surgery (six weeks ago) went well, however, the healing process has been slower than expected and very painful. The spacer that the doctor placed between his 4th and 5th vertebrae with four screws is wider than the space that was there when he had the herniated disk. He had no leg pain before the surgery, but does now as the stretching has affected a nerve. He has a strap/brace that he wears four hours a day that is a bone stimulator. It helps the bone to heal and fuse faster. For the last couple of days he has been walking 2 miles a day, and that is helping.
5) Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 86 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 43 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet the need.
MATTHEW 37-3 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” |
