What a blessing AGWM missionaries Jeff Garret, Wendy, his wife and terrific kids were as we traveled TZ. Pastor Mongi was also such a blessing ! Unfortunately, my trip home from Tanzania was a real nightmare. Our first flight out of Dar Es Salaam was delayed 3 hours with the temperature in the airport hovering around 100 degrees. When I got to Amsterdam, both connections to Detroit were gone so they transferred me to Washington, Dulles. When I finally got to DC the next day, the flight to Norfolk was cancelled for "ice conditions" (Amazing since it was 69 degrees in Hampton). Cathy got me on a flight into Richmond, driving the hours to pick me up to save me another night in the Airport.Sick with fever, headaches, joint pain, nausea and diarrhea, I was glad to be home. As of this writing, my luggage is still lost in airline purgatory, may heaven have mercy on their soles and contents.

The trip to Tanzania was a tremendous success. We look forward to the Jimmy Jack Hope and Destiny East Africa Tour in August, filled with promise for Dar Es Salaam and the historic launch of Teen Challenge in Tanzania. The TAG, AGWM and Pastor's coalition in Dar Es Salaam were incredibly organized and well prepared. With all of the committee chairmen appointed and scheduling Jangwani Grounds (which will hold 100,000 people), our greatest challenge is to identify adequate sound reinforcement.
PRAY FOR AFRICA
Ramon and the Lion
Ramon Rosa is the Crusade Director for Jimmy Jack's International Ministry. Whether staring down the "Simba" (left) or sharing the vision with pastors (right) in Tanzania, he was focused on the real predator, addiction, which stalks young lives like a roaring lion. We logged a lot of miles on the highways of Tanzania, with Jeff Garrett, AGWM liaison to TAG's evangelism Department seeing big game and doors of opportunity for the gospel.

Giraffes and Zebra
A nation slightly larger than twice the size of California, Tanzania is home to 40 million people. With a median age of 17 and a life expectancy of age 50, drug addiction is on the rise. Young people living a state of confusion with unrealized dreams, are graduating from bhang (marijuana) and gongo (African Gin) to heroin.
Pete DiCroce
Unable to fund their habit, which on average costs 3,000 shillings, many turn to crime, trafficking and brewing gongo, an illegal highly potent home brewed booze often mixed with formaldehyde. The government's Inter-ministerial Anti-Drug Commission (IADC) has no statistics on users, but social workers estimate that Dar Es Salaam, with a population of 2.5 million, may have between 200,000 and 250,000 serious drug abusers.
gongo brews
Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete has said. "The ports of Tanzania used to be a transit point for drugs, but now the number of users is escalating very fast." CLICK FOR UNODC REPORT. The African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) reports that in the Kinondoni Municipality of Dar Es Salaam where we will hold the crusade, the common psychoactive substances used are tobacco, glue, gas and petrol. Use starts between 9 and 12 years for boys and 13 years for girls. Adolescents often graduate to cannabis, alcohol and eventually heroin. School dropouts engaged in prostitution, football, drama and those who work as porters are the main users of cannabis.

We had the privilege to minister at General Superintendent Barnabas Mtokambali's church. Ramon Rosa shared the vision for the crusade and I ministered the word. The Holy Spirit really moved and over 150 made first time commitments at the altar call in one service alone.

Pastors Meeting
Above, we shared gifts with the bishop, a copy of the Teen Challenge 50th Anniversary Table top book and Pastor Jimmy Jack's powerful autobiography, I Can Dream Again. Please pray for the crusade teams and the future of TEEN CHALLENGE in Kenya and Tanzania.

PRAYER

FOCUS

1) Pray for Bern. He has been sick since we got home from Tanzania He has fever, headaches, nausea, diarrhea and joint pain. He has not been down this long for a while. Not only that, but after all of the missed flight connections, his luggage is still missing. He is slowly improving but needs your prayers

2) Pray for preparations for the August Jimmy Jack Crusade and Rock the Block Evangelistic Services in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Pray that Dr Ron Kenoly will be able to clear his schedule to join us as we partner with Kenya Teen Challenge and the TAG to launch a new TC in Dar Es Salaam. We need to lock in dates for Kamukunji Grounds and Jangwani for the ministry times as well as locating a Sound systems capable of covering 50 to 75,000 people.
3) Pray for Kenya Teen Challenge. Annie Martin, wife of Executive Director John Martin, is still in the USA pending cancer surgery on February 11. She is a real hero as she has sent Bro John back to Kenya to care for the needs of Teen Challenge. There is an exciting opportunity in Nyeri to open a new Women's Home. They are looking at a property that has a large 6 bedroom home on 1 ½ acres. It has electricity, running water, and has a stream that runs through the property. There is also a second 3 bedroom home on the property. The owner has left all the furniture in the home and said to get rid of anything that cannot be used. The property is completely fenced with a steel gate and good security.
4) Pray for Steve Hill as we have learned that he has asked us to postpone the upcoming Steve Hill crusades in Nairobi , Kenya and Monrovia, Liberia for health reasons.
5) Pray for workers for the Harvest ... we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 43 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet the need.
MATTHEW 37-3 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”

~~~~~~~~ Thank you for your partnership! ~~~~~~~~~~
We could not do it without your prayers and support.
