AFRICA STRATEGY 2008 GLOBAL UPDATE |

When speaking in church, on a college campus or to a community group, I often ask, "What comes to mind when you hear “Africa.” They rattle off a list of liabilities: disease (the AIDS pandemic, AIDS malaria and TB), famine, political corruption, desperate poverty,and tribal conflicts. Asked to list assets, some mention its natural resources—the Nile, Serengeti, wildlife, gold/diamonds, others might refer to cultural riches—music, art, and colorful history. It is disappointing how how few mention Africa’s greatest and most powerful resource, the African people. In our travels across the African Continent, from Khartoum to Ethiopia to Swaziland, we can testify that Africa's has its fair share of challenges. |

We are currently processing over a dozen invitations from other countries with a desire to open their own Centers. |

Outside of Teen Challenge, the combination of poor pay, poor working conditions, political instability, and deteriorating security for lives and personal property have led African professionals to vote with their feet. |

As the continent bleeds human resources in the health sector, engineering and professional services, Teen Challenge is finally harnessing Africa's greatest resource, the African people. Nelson Mandela said, “Africa is beyond bemoaning the past for its problems. The task of undoing that past is on the shoulders of African leaders themselves, with the support of those willing to join in a continental renewal."Teen Challenge is raising up a new generation of visionary leaders who know that Africa can take responsibility for its own future and that transformation is possible through he power of Jesus Christ.

This will be a special opportunity to receive vital training from world leaders, including Mike Zello with 45 years of Teen Challenge ministry: It will be hosted by Mike and Kay Zello who bring almost a century of combined training, Dave Batty, the author of the Teen Challenge Curriculum: Bonnie Martin, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor: Chuck Zierle, coffle house ministry: Bernie Gillott , GTC Evangelism Coordinator with 30 years of TC experience leading Worship and teaching on and Outreach Ministry.
We want to extend this invitation to participate in this Leadership training to those who would like to be involved in ministry to children, addicts and people with life-controlling problems. Meet with key leaders from Africa and discuss important issues with staff from Teen Challenge Centers in 8 other countries as you enjoy vital fellowship with people who are actually doing the work of reaching addicts across Africa and around the world. |
