We are here in Cairo Egypt, the home of 10,000 mosques and new emerging TC Centers, to conclude our prayer and fasting days, The Teen Challenge ministry was born in prayer. It survives and thrives through prayer. With over 273 million addicts worldwide and a prophetic mandate to Put Hope Within Reach of every addict, we don't just believe in miracles, we rely on them.
Thank you to all that have joined us in these 40 days of focused prayer leading up to February 9, the first day of 19 days of prayer after David Wilkerson sold his TV to spend more time in prayer. |

... and the whole NATION PRAYED |
Many know the story of that great first rally at St. Nick’s Arena in New York City told in the Cross & the Switchblade. Nicky Cruz, Israel and many of the gang members gave their lives to Jesus that week, but it was not just a one-man job. Have you ever seen this amazing call to prayer in the July 6, 1958 Pentecostal Evangel?
IT BEGINS: Pray for Youth of New York. St. Nicholas Arena in New York will be the scene of a series of youth meetings designed to reach teen-age gangs and other teenagers in the area for Christ, July 8 through 12.
There are over 115 gangs, some with as many as ten divisions, operating in the city.
Police and gang leaders have predicted that this may well be "the bloodiest summer in New York City's history." The urgency of this situation points up the need for a real move of God at this time. |
|
The article concludes: A prayer chain has been started which will continue through the dates of the Arena meetings. All night prayer meetings have been organized by the C. A's in various sections of the city. Everyone is urged to pray that this will be the beginning of a great harvest among teen-agers in New York across America. The beginnings of a great harvest that they prayed for in July of 1958 unleashed a Holy Spirit fire in New York City and birthed Brooklyn Teen Challenge. Like a mighty river of fire it overflowed our borders and continues to burn today. God has used TC powerfully and the flame of freedom has roared around the world from that first center to 1400 centers in 125 nations worldwide in 2020. |

While I was in Las Vegas I had the opportunity to engage the homeless problem on the street, do a service at the Union Rescue Mission, and chapel with TC Las Vegas. It is great to see what Dave Davis and his wife are doing there, now in their sixth year at the Las Vegas TC center |

Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say it rejoice . . . The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be made known to God.
Phil 4:4-6 |
|
As rich as the insight that this scripture brings, the most incredible thing is that the apostle Paul is writing from a prison cell. He has done nothing wrong, falsely jailed for love and God's grace, he finds himself incarcerated-likely facing death. He wastes no time on self-pity, "Why me?" or the eternal cry… “It’s not fair.“
It is not easy to silence the voice of Justification crying out, "This can’t be. This should not be. It certainly shouldn’t be happening to me!" The greatest danger of focusing on the unfairness in a situation is that you begin to live in the unfairness. Suddenly your eyes are seeking reasons for the problem, not God's plan in it.
If you focus on the reason-you never get the revelation. The apostle Paul saw that and gave us a promise. |
|
The most
"unfair thing" about getting stuck in the unfairness is-
IT IS UNFAIR
TO YOU. When you are trapped in finding "reasons" it is unfair, you lose the "Revelation!" |
|
Here is the key. Consumed with the unfairness, you surrender control of your life to all that wounded you. For Paul, even though "Rejoicing in the Lord" did not break him out of the prison made by Rome… It did deliver him from the bars of a private prison of "self." The endless, "Why?" The--"maybe I should have? Perhaps I could have? Is God punishing me?" There are no "paybacks" in God. Jesus paid it all.
When we squander our energy looking for reasons, it takes our focus off of God, who sees all. It puts our eyes on the lie of "what I feel now." Never lose sight that what God has done for you is greater than what any man can do to you.
David Wilkerson, arrived at the trial, "Your honor I have a whole church praying ..."and was unceremoniously dragged out of the courtroom in humiliation. A front page Daily News article memorialized his humiliation. It did not seem fair, but God used that photo to forge a connection between him and the most violent gangs of NYC to birth a unique ministry that would change millions of lives.
No matter what you face today. "Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say it REJOICE!' What God has already done for you is greater than anything man can do to you. Let Him do something in YOU. Surrender your search for blame and reasons, hold on to God even when you don't understand... GOD KNOWS. |

Please pray for those at risk, infected and affected by the novel corona-virus. (2019-nCoV), There are a total of 31,420 confirmed cases and 638 deaths globally, the vast majority of which are in mainland China. Some countries have seen a surge in cases; Singapore with 30 Japan with 25, Pray for Africa- their population would be tremendously vulnerable to fatalities if it spreads there. Please pray for leaders as they adopt emergency measures, travel restrictions, and quarantines to stem the spread of the virus.
World Health Organization Novel Corona-virus DASHBOARD

4) In obedience to God’s Word . . .
“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
1 Timothy 2:1-4 NASB

Ephesians 3:20-21 |
6) FINANCIAL CHALLENGES
AS WE LAUNCH 2020
We appreciate those who pray for us. As you can see from the above schedule, we face an incredible challenge going into this new year with the number of trips back to back. But the opportunities were so significant and ministry needs were so compelling that we really felt led to step out in faith. Please pray that the Lord will speak to the hearts of people who will help to sponsor these flights.
7) JOIN US WITH OVER 1000 leaders in Egypt
AS WE WRAP UP 40 DAYS OF PRAYER 2020
|
Once again, the Global Teen Challenge family invites
you
to join us for 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting in January of 2020! |
As we enter into a new year, we are asking God to empower us to reach those who are searching for the freedom that is found in Jesus. Will you stand in prayer with us against the forces of darkness?
- Expect transformation in yourself.
- Model humility. Lead your staff and students into the presence of God.
- Expect your staff and students and those around you to have an encounter with the Holy Spirit.
- Give the Holy Spirit permission to change your schedule.
Decide what physical or social activities you will restrict. Will you have the devotional and prayer time during chapel in the morning or in the place of a meal? Make sure to give the Holy Spirit time to speak.
- Decide how you will use the daily devotionals at your center. Teen Challenge leaders from around the globe have volunteered to minister to us in our devotionals. What a wonderful way to expand the world-view of our staff and students and realize the enormity of our Teen Challenge family by receiving from global leaders.
- Decide the type of fast for your center to undertake
(Daniel fast, fast only one meal a day, etc.).
- Fasting must be voluntary, offered as a sacrifice unto the Lord, not forced. Explain to your students what fasting is and what it is not and then give them an opportunity to participate.
- Plan for the students who will be fasting and those who will not.
- Decide how much time each day you will devote to prayer and God's Word.
