~ ~ WEST AFRICA~ ~
GTC Awareness Conference

As the drug trafficking continues to increase through the West Africa shipping corridor, the escalating incidence of substance abuse is growing at an alarming rate. Terrorism, understaffed customs and corruption are the breeding ground for the growing drug trade. Seeing the need for the church to take lead, 10 National leaders invited GTC to come.

In partnership with Global Teen Challenge, an organizing committee of key West Africa Gen. Superintendents and National heads of AG led by Dr.. Paul Frimpong-Manso, of Ghana, along with Rev Rahael Dione, Senegal, Rev. Jek Adjorlolo, Gambia, Supt Michael Ouedraogo of Burkina Faso, Pasteur Joegbean Tokwapahwgbanamou of Guinea, Supt. Mitre' Djackouti of Togo, Rev. Adote Y. Emile of Benin, Rev. Denis Etuba, Cameroon, and Prof. Paul Emeka of Nigeria invited their natrion to come.

TC Leaders from Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), and Rwanda were included as a part of this powerful gathering. Some traveled up to 60 hours by bus over treacherous territory, dangerous roadways and dealt with challenging immigration issues to come together to forge a fresh partnership for a front line strategy to impact West Africa for Jesus Christ and to bring the gospel to bear on this escalating drug pandemic.

The beautiful West coastline of Africa, once called the Gold Coast was branded the Cocaine Coast in a recent report by The United Nations Office Of Drug Control Policy  (UNODCP).   Intensified  U.S. drug enforcement in Latin America, along with a falling dollar and a surging demand for cocaine on the streets of Europe, has led to political and economic chaos across West Africa. International narco-traffickers have established their most lucrative new staging grounds. In fact, the drug trade is fast turning large parts of the region into areas that are all but ungovernable.

Trafficking in West African has hit epidemic levels.. International drug traffickers passing through the Middle East Asia and South America to Europe and north in the United States are laden with a cargo of hard drugs. A portion of that deadly payload is destined for the street corners and alleys of West Africa. Guinea-Bissau, the fifth poorest country in the world, has for all intents and purposes become textbook example of an African narco-state due to its relative proximity to South America and its hundreds of miles of uncontrolled coastline islands.

Rev John Tandamba brought 7 people from his TC team in Burkina Faso. One of his leaders, Roland, served as a French translator for the conference. We head next to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso and look forward to training staff and pastors, ministering in Churches, at the Center and on the street.

Jonathan and his worship team joined us along with various worship leaders from different nations and we had a delightful time in the presence of the Lord. We were blessed to serve with these talented musicians and anointed worshipers.

Finding my Purpose

10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
EPHESIANS 2:10
Do you ever get discouraged that you can't seem to break through. Beware of your words, You are not a failure.
No matter what self, Satan, or others tell you, God has a plan for your life.

SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TC
MOVING FORWARD

Over 500 students as well as staff and leaders from Teen Challenge centers across Southern California joined us under the tent at Castle in Riverside for an incredible time of ministry.
Bern

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everything is perfect ... you may have failed, but you are not a failure. Failure is not the essence of what you do. It is not who you are. Even when failure  happens, God views you through eyes of created dignity and excellence.  It is God who created you, and He made you for success, not failure.

Perhaps the problem is that you have not taken hold of destiny. Have you discovered your purpose, what you were created for? God has a plan for your life. When you fit into God's plan, you will find that God truly made you "a work of His art." Allow Him to paint  on your life,  a canvas of His love.

You do not need to be "like" anyone else. Beware of comparisons. If a donkey could compare itself to a race horse, he might think himself a failure, but a donkey was not created for speed. He was created for strength and endurance.

It was not a majestic horse that carried Jesus into the rejoicing throng as they shouted "Hosanna." It was not a great white stallion with sculpted flanks and flowing mane, who carried the Master into the city, but a humble beast of burden upon which the Father could safely trust the carriage of the king.

May I see every problem as an opportunity, every obstacle as a steppingstone, and every apparent failure as an opportunity for God to show himself mighty on my behalf. His love for me is not based on my success but upon the gift of love He placed in me through his Son and promise of HIS creation in me. We are His Workmanship and praise God He is at work.

May God continue to raise up a missionary voice from Southern California. Just as it began under Dennis Griffith, they have already reached around the world and mpw Rev.Ron Brown continues to carry that powerful voice for TC Worldwide.
~ On the Street-Kumasi ~

The new Teen Challenge Ghana Center, directed by David Kofi Owusu Boateng and his wife,  is located in Kumasi, six hours north of Ghana. After landing in Accra, David and I immediately traveled there to visit the TC and minister in churches and on the street. The Kumasi metropolis is the most populous district in the Ashanti Region.  It has  a population of 1,855,180 and this accounts for just under a third (32.4%) of the region’s population.

Kumasi has attracted such a large population partly because it is the regional capital, and also the most commercialized center in the region, but along with the urbanization, comes the escalating drug abuse. It was exciting to go on the street in Kumasi, Ghana. We saw boys sniffing glue, and smoking marijuana right in the open and men seeking for answers.

David has a tremendous rapport with the street people and vision for the Ashanti region. He put us right in an outstanding hot spot where we are delighted to see well over 100 make commitments to Christ.

We appreciate all of the hard work that David, His Wife and Mother Dorcas put in to make this conference a success. We are grateful for all of his travel, preparations and hard work that were such an important part bringing so many churches and ministries together for this strategic conference

~ Closing Banquet & Graduation ~
One of the delights of the West Africa conference was the closing banquet, presentation of certificates and celebration. So many powerful leaders, dressed in indigenous outfits and worshiping together in such a beautiful setting as Mother Dorcas and the ladies worked so hard to make the closing night special.

2) Please pray for the move of God in West Africa and continuing progress as they attack the Ebola Crisis in West Africa. We saw signs everywhere and I learned not handle dead bats, antelope, and monkeys with our bare hands. We prayed for lots of sick people, but I avoided all bats, monkeys and antelope.

3) WEST AFRICA AWARENESS CONFERENCE

Please pray for the lasting fruit from Teen Challenge Awareness Summit in Accra, Ghana as leaders of 12 West African nations came together to strategize opportunities to use Teem Challenge as a vehicle to bring the claims of the gospel to bear on the escalating drug problem in West Africa. With leaders traveling from such distances, please pray for their safety as they travel home.

6) THE HARVEST

Let's pray for the global advance of the gospel. Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 106 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 32 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet the need.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.
