Cathy's Corner We had the privilege of ministering at New Life Fellowship in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Through the blessing of English subtitles on the overhead, we sang and worshipped as if we were at home at Calvary in Hampton.
What a joy to see so many young married couples and college age folks worshipping so enthusiastically. While at one level the number of young people seemed like a blessing, the roots of this demographic are frightening. The high number of young people is because nearly 2 million adults were exterminated by the Khmer Rouge. That genocide exterminated a generation. For many of these young Christians, there are few parents or older relatives to nurture or mentor them. Praise the Lord, He has raised up missionaries, pastors and leaders to fill that gap.

CONTINUED FROM E-NTERCESSSION . . .

Pastor Sopia brought a wonderful word, based on their mission statement:

Love God, Love People, Live in Integrity, Live as a Witness.

He pointed out that this mission is not just for pastors, deacons, elders and cell group leaders, but for the whole church body. And might I add, the whole Body of Christ. Pastor gave this challenge to hungry young people, involved in cell groups and growing in the ways of God. He shared it with church folks, ready to be the Church rather than just those who GO TO church to “do church.”

What a blessing to see what God is doing here in Cambodia. We pray that we will hear God's call to the same core values not for the sake of religion but for "life!" These wonderful young believers, without the benefit of mentoring and role models that we take for granted, face persecution and opposition. They are carrying this gospel to an 80% Buddhist nation. WIth the blessings that we have, how much more should we allow our lives to show forth His life and allow the impact of the gospel to shape our nation, our world.

God is calling us all, no matter where we live, to obey the Great Commandment (Love God and Love People), to walk the walk-not just talk the talk (Live in Integrity), and to fulfill the Great Commission (Live as a Witness).

So, let’s partner with the church here in Southeast Asia. We too, must answer the call to let our light shine.  Just like our brothers and sisters at New Life, we are commanded and commissioned to show real love and make a real difference in a world that is really desperate to hear the really Good News.
