As we prepared for powerful ministry at the Europe Teen Challenge Conference we learned of
the eruption of
Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull volcano.
What began as a fascinating curiosity quickly
became significant as many
of the of the participants, including keynote speaker, John Macey
encountered
transportation problems.
Within, 24 hours
of the eruption and with volcanic
activity still intensifying,
the plume
had risen seven
miles into the sky and had blown across
the
Norwegian Sea to Scandinavia,
and southeast. At one
point
in time, 500
tons of ash were entering the atmosphere per second.
Studies showed
the plume
doubling
again
and again as it stretched
to cover
an area close to the size of Western Europe.
With
the
continuing emission
of volcanic ash
into
the atmosphere
over Iceland,
scheduled flights to
/from
the UK,
Ireland, Denmark, Finland,
Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Holland,
Northern France,
Germany,
Poland, Italy, and the
Baltic States
were canceled.
Hundreds of ETC Conference
participants,
including Global TC CEO Jerry Nance
and his wife, as well as Dan Strickland
have joined
7 Million travelers affected by this crisis.

evaluate the effect of volcanic ash on jet engines.

EUROPE TEEN CHALLENGE CONFERENCE- RIMINI ITALY
The
creeping black volcanic cloud that is still spreading across the face of Europe is a
prophetic
view of the coming
clash of cultures between post modernism,
politics, Islam, humanism and the Gospel.
This is not a time to surrender or retreat, but to engage and advance the Kingdom.
PRAY FOR THE 32 NATIONS OF EUROPE TEEN CHALLENGE AND NEW NATIONS PLANTING.

The theme of the 2010 conference was Understanding This Generation. The teachers provided a potent springboard to explore the Post Modern, Gen X ,
Gen "Y" and .. well whatever letter or generational phenomenon. The teachings laid a powerful foundation with critical insights into the thought processes necessary to engage the culture of the new millennium. Teachers developed models of the emerging thought process from a global perspective, culturally, sexually, and spiritually. |

As great as that was, it climaxed powerfully on Saturday night as Rev John Macey, a true Teen Challenge pioneer, with decades of ministry with TC in the UK and as a pioneer across the globe delivered a dynamic challenge to remember that the power of the Holy Spirit cuts through ALL philosophy,cultural and human preference through the Power of God. He prophetically challenged leaders from the 32 Nations of Europe Teen Challenge to engage their culture with Power evangelism. |

A highlight of The Europe Teen Challenge Conference was the special recognition of Dennis Griffith, a great Teen Challenge pioneer who recently passed away. They honored his service to leaders and the resources he shared launch centers across Europe and the former Eastern Bloc nations, following the fall of communism. Dozens of directors and students rose to the give thanks for Dennis's investment in Teen Challenge in their countries and to give thanks for the work that he had done around the world. Dennis Griffith's family was also remembered in prayer by Dr. Jerry Nance. |

Doug Wever will lead the conference as Mike Zello dispatches responsibilities for a Light for the Lost Tour stateside. We are excited to provide training and prepare emerging leaders across the continent of Africa. John and Annie Martin Executive directors of Kenya Teen Challenge will host leaders from Ghana, Liberia, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Swaziland, South Africa, Nigeria, Seychelles, and Mauritius.
Steve Pippen has worked hard to help us get preparations in order for six powerful days of Ministry, vision-casting, teaching, encouragement, and prayer.
An exciting feature of this LTI is that we will host two street meeting in the slums of North Mathare to apply the lessons that are being taught and engage addicts where they live. Teaching duties will also be shared by Kevin Ward who will train on "LAUNCHING A TEEN CHALLENGE CENTER IN THE AFRICAN CONTEXT and Jacobus Nomdoe on PRACTICAL EVANGELISM |

1) Please pray for this exciting mission across 3 continents as I move on from Istanbul, Turkey and Rimini, Italy to Cairo Egypt and Nairobi, Kenya. Some countries are for ministry in music and the word, some will be video, but it is all for Jesus.
2) Please pray for Dr. Jerry Nance. During a power for time of ministry at Europe Teen Challenge, he received word that his wonderful godly father suffered a heart attack and had gone home to be with the Lord. He completed his ministry during the communion service. Join us as we have prayed for him. Now the difficulties with the volcanic ash cloud are making it impossible for him to return home to help with important memorial preparations. Please pray for Dr Nance, his wife Libby and the entire Nance family.
3) Please pray for my son Bernie and his wife Sara who are finally preparing to move back into their home with the grand kids following the fire that took place in January. Thank you to all of you that prayed for him and followed his saga on my Facebook page.
I may have to take my Italian made "smart car" and make a run for the ferry if the airports in Italy do not soon open. Even when they open they will be a madhouse. |
I am now scheduled for 11 o'clock on Tuesday to Rome, then Cairo and Nairobi Kenya. right now everything is closed. There was talk of opening, but a late night eruption releasing lava and launching 500 tons of ash in the atmosphere per second over Europe has out that at risk. Based on the current stable weather trends across the British Isles, Scandinavia, and the Northern European coastline, which continue to blow the dangerous volcanic ash (with its glass particles which can melt and seize jet engines) Many conference participants are still stranded here.

4) PLEASE pray a special for the wonderful folks from Scotland and Ireland who were such a blessing to me. Bro Roy, and the ministry team from Scotland even walked with me to help to carry all of my luggage to the train as I headed to Bologna, Italy last night and their work with he outreach buses with addicts and prostitutes in Glasgow. The Glasgow Ministry team is still juggling options including someone driving all the way from Scotland, taking a ferry, and driving them back home-- five days of driving, but the only option when flights may not move till next week. Dan Strickland of Living Free is stranded in Milan The team from the Dublin is trying to find a way home. Dr Nance needs our prayers.
5) Pray for Lucknow Teen Challenge in India, Graduation is on May 2, 2010 .Nine (9) our students are graduating- Five (5) of these graduates will go on to bible college. K.K Devraj, director, founder, pioneer, and President of Bombay Teen Challenge and Dr. Leroy Gruner are the speakers. The new
100 bed facility for Lucknow Teen Challenge is under construction and the dedication/ foundation stone laying Ceremony will be on May 1. Pray for their saftey in Uttar Pradesh.
6) Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 86 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in 43 nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT.
